Robert Statham Williams (1859-1945) was a bryologist and botanical explorer. He served the New York Botanical Garden as Museum Aide (1899), Assistant Curator (1906), Administrative Assistant (1910) and Research Assistant in Bryology (1932). He worked closely with Elizabeth Britton. He was born on May 6, 1859 in Minneapolis, Minn. At the age of 20 he moved to Montana where he became a businessman, miner and explorer.
